While Wayne and I were on vacation this year in South Dakota, I took along some yarn to crochet. I enjoy relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing by crocheting. I decided to make more soap sacks to donate. They are an easy project, and the end result is something that can help someone in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found out about SACK – Supporting A Community with Kindness<\/a> early last year. Here is their vision, \u201cOur vision is to inspire groups of volunteers around the country to crochet\/knit, collect, and donate bar soap to their local food pantries,\u00a0homeless shelters, relief efforts, mission trips, social service agencies, and veterans\u2019 clinics.\u201d Check out their website, www.soapsacks.com<\/a> to find out more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year I set a goal to crochet 60 soap sacks to donate for my 60th birthday. After checking into many organizations, I decided to donate them to Grace House here in St. Joseph. I include a bar of soap with the crocheted soap sack and place them in a plastic bag. Wayne and I delivered them, and I even handed out a few. The joy on the faces of the recipients was wonderful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I made and delivered 24 more soap sacks to Grace House before Christmas. Giving these small gifts truly fills my heart with joy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While on vacation, I crocheted 16 soap sacks, not a bad way to wind down at the end of the day! I have crocheted a few more since we got home. I now have a total of 34 soap sacks packaged with soap and ready to deliver to Grace House soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
