Kansas City Yarn Crawl 2025 Adventures

What an exciting few days for Belle’s Crafting Adventures! The 2025 Kansas City Yarn Crawl (KCYC) took place September 18–21, with five wonderful local yarn shops in the Kansas City area participating. My daughter, Rio, and I joined in on the fun and managed to visit three of the five shops this year!

Knit Ewe Together – Excelsior Springs, MO

Our first stop took us to the charming town of Excelsior Springs to visit Knit Ewe Together. Shawna, the owner, has filled her shop with beautiful yarns and fiber accessories that make you want to start a new project immediately.

Since we wanted to support local dyers during the crawl, we picked up yarn from New Garden Yarns and Steel Floozy Yarn. Melissa from New Garden Yarns had some exciting new goodies this year, including her own T-shirt designs! Kim from Steel Floozy opened River Heights Yarn Shop in Manhattan, KS, which is now on my must-visit list. It was such a joy chatting with these talented ladies, their knowledge and passion for fiber is inspiring.

Momo’s Knitting Nook & Crochet Emporium – Leavenworth, KS

Next, we headed west to Leavenworth. But first, lunch at Pullman Place (highly recommend if you’re in the area!). With full bellies and happy hearts, we walked into Momo’s Knitting Nook & Crochet Emporium, where the temptation to splurge on yarn is very real.

There, we discovered beautiful skeins from Potion Yarns. Johanna from Potion Yarns was on hand, and it was wonderful to catch up with her, along with Ramona, the welcoming owner of Momo’s. The shop was buzzing with creativity, and it was hard to leave!

Yarn Social KC – Kansas City, MO

On Saturday, we wrapped up our crawl with a trip to Yarn Social KC. This cozy shop has such a welcoming vibe, with shelves full of gorgeous yarn, inspiring books, and handy notions.

The highlight? Meeting Kim from Kim Dyes Yarn and Adella from LolaBean Yarn Co. Not only do they create stunning yarns, but they were an absolute delight to chat with. Of course, we couldn’t resist bringing home yarn from both! It was also wonderful to see Trish, the owner, and her friendly team of staff who make Yarn Social such a special place to shop.

After filling our bags with yarn and our hearts with inspiration, we made one last stop before heading home, Raising Cane’s. Nothing like crispy chicken and Texas toast to fuel a couple of happy yarn crawlers!

Wrapping Up the Crawl

What a whirlwind of yarny goodness! In just two days, we explored three amazing shops, connected with passionate fiber artists, and came home with plenty of inspiration (and a few extra skeins to add to our stashes). Each shop we visited was filled with kindness, knowledge, and the kind of warm community that makes local yarn shops so special.

Rio and I had a fantastic time, and we’re already looking forward to revisiting these shops before next year’s yarn crawl.

Thanks for spending time with me today!
~ Belle
