Hey there, yarn friends!
Whew – July was a scorcher! Between all the sunny days and indoor stitch sessions, my crochet hook has been getting a serious workout. Let’s dive into everything I’ve been working on this month.
Temperature Blanket Progress

July definitely brought the heat, and you can see it reflected in my 2025 temperature blanket square which has a lot of bold, dark shades this time around! It’s been fun comparing it to my 2020 square, which had a little more color variety but was still pretty toasty.
Can you spot the differences between the two? Drop a comment and let me know what stands out to you!
Onward to August’s squares!
Projects Completed in July
I had a great time mixing things up this month with some adorable (and sometimes unexpected) makes. Here’s what came off my hook in July:

- Mini Luna Unicorn – I used the pattern from Knotted Loveys by Mama Made Minis https://www.etsy.com/listing/1328518194/mini-luna-unicorn-knotted-lovey-crochet to create this precious unicorn. Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn in the colorway Pretty Girl was my choice for this colorful unicorn. I think she looks adorable and maybe a bit magical!

- Hornets’ Nest (Custom Order) -I received a request for a hornets’ nest and found the perfect free pattern on the Red Couch Crochet blog. https://redcouchcrochet.wordpress.com/2024/05/28/wasp-nest-decoy-crochet-pattern-free/ It came together quickly and turned out great! I used worsted weight yarn and sprayed it with water repellent since it will be placed outside.

- Mija the Persian Cat – Inspired by my daughter’s cat, I used the Loaf Cat pattern by Annie Carraway Art https://www.etsy.com/listing/1853519603/2-in-1-crochet-pattern-siamese-and and made an amigurumi version of Mija. Isn’t he cute?

- Bandit the Tuxedo Cat – Not to be outdone, I made our tuxedo cat Bandit using Annie Carraway Art’s pattern. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1853510739/2-in-1-crochet-pattern-tuxedo-cat It was so satisfying to turn our furry family members into crochet keepsakes.

- Ghost with Witch Hat – I got a head start on spooky season with another Annie Carraway Art pattern https://www.etsy.com/listing/1770732836/18-in-1-crochet-pattern-autumn-ghost I chose this adorable ghost topped with a witch hat. It’s never too early to plan for Halloween, right?
Secret Project
I’ve also been working on a little something behind the scenes, a special project that I’ll reveal in August! I can’t wait to show you how it turns out.
What’s Coming Next
Once my secret project is complete, I plan to dive even deeper into the world of amigurumi. It’s been such a fun change of pace from my usual blanket squares, and I have a list of new plushies I’m excited to try. Of course, my temperature blankets will still be growing month by month.
Until next time, stay cool and keep stitching!
~ Belle
